Zero is, as a prequel, written and constructed specifically to build on the existing F/SN narrative, and doesn't work nearly as well and isn't nearly as effective of a story without that context.

UBW compounds on this twofold by taking Saber, a character both the Fate route and Fate/Zero spend a considerable amount of time focusing on and developing, and reasonably sidelines her as UBW's focus is Shirou's worldview and Emiya (which itself builds on the Fate route in the same ways that Zero does). Beyond that, I have personal qualms with the execution of the Ufo UBW compared to the original VN but I understand that those are my own value judgements and won't specifically hold that against someone getting into the series.

Overall, I'd simply say that you are significantly undercutting your own ability to appreciate or enjoy Zero and UBW in their entirety by jumping into them as a starting point. It's like you're voluntarily missing out on so much of what made Fate so popular in Japan in the first place.

tl;dr fuck off secondaries
