Honestly, they are both side characters, so no need to expand on them too much in this story. Let them stay on the sidelines. The most I would do is have a mention of Mika in the crowd once Alex is dragged back to the station, if you going that route. If not, and the last confrontation is taking place where Jonathan found the "rebels", he doesn't even have to be mentioned, and Charlie could just provide a comment here and there in the beggining. Idk, your story now, I washed my hands off it.
