nta but oh ffxi was hella drab
my impression of it from playing it briefly back then is just that it was drab and it had incomprehensible aggro mechanics

just image searching for ffxi screenshot there's almost nothing but washed out drab colors. and i don't think it's even a negative thing, it's an aesthetic they chose, no need to get defensive.
