Elaina is an entertaining LN, it's very episodic but that's part of the appeal, each volume has like 10 different stories that may or may not be connected (more often than not they're not connected, but there's many overarching elements over the books), some stories are pretty dark while others are more lighthearted, there's many gimmicks and twists that makes it addictive, you never know if the story is going to have a bad end, bittersweet end or just a positive end, it's great to pick up and read 2 stories under 30 minutes, after consuming so much serialized media it's refreshing to go back to episodic stuff like this. The main character Elaina is pretty complex and takes a while for you to get her, she's travelling the world but she doesn't have a messiah complex of trying to help everybody which can trigger some people.
About the anime, it's pretty to look and Elaina is pure sex on it, however but they skipped a lot of my favorite stories so I seethe about it a bit.
