Let's be fair: there aren't a lot of people who liked the January 6th Capitol Hill riot or whatever you want to call it even among conservatives. Those fucking dipshits deserve whatever punishment they get. Where conservatives get their hackles up is thinking that either all the people who were there were involved (which is a big fat fucking lie), that Trump was responsible for it, or that conservatives everywhere wanted it to happen and are planning to do more.

I don't have a problem with what Zen said. People were pretty impassioned at the time and emotions make us do / say stupid things. Zen took that down and, when someone in the next stream tried to bring it up, she shut it down immediately. She made an error in judgment in sharing her thoughts, from a business perspective if nothing else. You have to imagine a lot of these vtubers, who have to protect their brand, might get a bit frustrated and pent up that they can't share their thoughts. So, yeah, happened once, she corrected the mistake. Nothing burger.

The appeal is actually simple: she is the tsukkomi to chat's boke and is really good at using the 3D avatar to express herself in both subtle and exaggerated ways. In collabs she's often a troll and pranks other players. The girls all love her and she's popular with other streamers, so she collabs often with just about anybody. She's also big into charities and will do a charity stream for something at least once a season. As long as you accept she might be a guy IRL and are fine with immersion into Zen the character then you're fine. The TTS is a big hurdle for some people to get over, but I have found that the more I watch the more it grows on me, especially the TTS mistakes. When trying to talk about how and when to use "math" the TTS instead says "meth" is funny as hell, and just gives her chat more ammo to troll with.
