When I was in college bible study, many of the ministers implored the various members to take steps towards a biblical view on sexuality.

There was quite a few measures we 'walking Christians' had to take for the role as a committed member. We called all the men 'brothers' and the females 'sisters' and each was held to expectations to be considered 'spiritual' and 'walking with God' but also to continue practicing in the church:

First, if you wanted to move into one of the designated fellowship houses (among the brothers or sisters), you had to sign this document called the 'House covenant' which detailed some of the rules regarding sex. It stated that if you moved into a house, that you were actively pursuing a relationship with God, and with that a porn-free lifestyle.

So, naturally nobody is eager to confess their pornography habits... and that is how come the people who lived in your house would setup what we called 'accountability partners'. Basically, one of your roommates would ask for you to setup a program on your electronic devices which sent them an email or text message anytime you visited a pornographic website. The programs (either CovenantEyes or Accountable2You) would send a fairly detailed report to any of your 'accountability partners' which included date & time, which device, as well as the URL of whatever you visited. If you looked up "redhead ginger boobies" on PornHub, they would actually see this exact search and the pages of related content. It was really thorough, even sending a text message with words such as "ass, cunt, or fuck" would trigger a report. And in real time, sometimes people would contact me immediately.

Whenever you were caught 'stumbling' the people who saw the report would have a hoard of questions for you. "How were you feeling? Do you think it is appropriate for a walking Christian to look at this sort of stuff? Do you want to continue working on being porn-free? What steps will you take to achieve this?" Eventually the humiliation, shame, and embarrassment builds and you find yourself questioning whether or not browsing porn is even worth it. What was really crazy is how people asking you about this makes you realize how habitual browsing porn is to you. I found myself just trying to keep occupied with other things overtime.

Furthermore, sometimes various (more committed) members get asked to participate in a course offered by the ministers on Sexual Morality. It was a 5-week class, once every Tuesday, around 2 hours each week during the evening, if I remember correctly. The first week was a bit like a syllabus week where the ministers explained what the course would be like, how come they thought it was important, what to expect, and taking general attendance. The second week was particularly interesting, to start off we had to break into small groups of about 4-5 (men with other men and women with other women) and elaborate on all of our sexual experiences to each other. I mean like everything; all of your past girlfriends (or boyfriends), whatever kink you specifically struggled with, all of your choices for porn. The third week was lecture heavy, talking about bible verses, and really diving deep into scripture. The fourth week was mostly for studying for the fifth week where we took an exam on all the material. The fifth week was just the exam and we got to leave as soon as we were finished. The exam was short, maybe 20 questions, but you had to have some bible verses memorized and what their significance was to sexual morality. You didn't receive anything for passing or failing but if you wanted to be considered for leadership positions, you had to pass.

If you were fairly in-group with the congregation (as I was at the time) sometimes other acquainted members would ask you how you were handling your own sexual morality, randomly and unwarranted. People who couldn't or wouldn't admit to sexual sin, chronic porn users with no intentions of stopping, or those having pre-marital sexual relations with no intention of stopping were eventually asked to leave the fellowship. There was also a bunch of readings, resources, and books regarding sexual morality that many members shared and studied together frequently. One of the head ministers even had a book titled 'Porn-Free' which they sold in the church's cafe. We were allowed to date in the church but there was always A LOT of questions.
