I feel like I've had this argument in 17 other threads. They have some level of kayfabe that they play into more than the other EN girls, but they still talk about themselves, their interests, their parents, and sometimes their issues/problems. They are objectively honest about themselves and what they enjoy. The difference here is that they ALWAYS punctuate any "complaints and negativity" with positive words because they want to be looked at as inspirations, and they seriously do want people to feel happy when watching them.
It's not that complicated.

I genuinely don't think Makoto felt realistic whatsoever because he felt like a generic harem MC and NOT a human being. The rest of the characters DID feel like human beings, though. If that was the entire point, then that's awesome, but in no way, shape, or form, did I ever get the feeling that he was human at all.
He was practically a walking dildo in human form. The only time he felt like he existed was when he broke down in front of mindbroken kotonoha and then when he died crying. But that felt like it was out of left field to me due to how much of a non-person he was.
That's all, I don't really want to carry this on any longer. Maybe quote me when the stream is done, and we can argue some more?

I thought the backstory happened before that moment? Either way, 02/MCs backstory was incredible, but it felt like that was unironically the last thing the writers had planned. Everything after that felt like they were winging it completely.
