I won't say it doesn't matter (because it does to a certain extent) but you can do many things, it just depends on what vtubing means to you/what you want to take from it
1. Do you want to be an idol? Do jp and singing reps and apply to corpos. Use your current content as a portfolio. Don't fall for obvious scams like NEXAS
2. Do you want to be a content creator with an avatar? Just do shit that feels high quality. You could play a challenge run of the game you like on stream and make a youtube video narrating the process with the footage and maybe some of your reactions. There's a lack of comfy long form video female vtubers and it's something you could do.
2b. Upload quality shorts/reels/tiktoks. Think Rin Penrose.

You'll need networking in whichever path you choose, and that means interacting with the most cancerous people you ever met, but you can also make some friendships and lift each other up. I've had that same thought for a while. I think it's because separating the appearance from the voice and behavior of the streamer allows for a safe receptacle for sexual behavior. You can watch a vtuber and think "Wow, she's really cute/funny/good at games/etc" but then flip over to twitter and see the character doing the most degenerate things and there is no contradiction there, we can unconsciously separate the character from the person.
