I am late to the mental visualization talk, but I will just point out that I find it hard to believe that people can totally and completely miss something like that. When I imagine an apple, I can almost taste it and feel its texture (almost like an hallucination even). I see it very vividly. Although I also get how to have something going on in my head with no images. This happens most often when doing anything math related (unless it is geometry or some graphic representation), mainly basic calculation. I can also sort of get the idea before it is fully mentally verbalized. I understand people being better or worse at one or the other, but how can someone just not have one of these mental experiences AT ALL? Is it a mental disorder?
