To go along with this, our sister thread has a series of public service announcements that try to help curtail dumbass behavior like over-donating and parasocial relationships, but I want to do a tl;dr version here:

You do not have to donate shit to your favorite streamers. Ever. They all say some variation of the same thing: do not ever feel like you need to financially support them in any way. Just being there and watching is enough (and it helps). So no money if you don't have or don't want. They're fine.
