Let me explain it with a chart. This is not a vtubing exclusive problem, like with console wars, people got more of arguing Playstation vs Xbox instead of the entertainment from the games themselves. Or sports fans having to stir fights with opposite teams and buy memorabilia of the most mindnumbing garbage to watch, or speculate on which team is gonna buy who.

Same with vtubing. There is no new content. People gotta look into rrats, rumors, company fights, doxxing, etc. To remain engaged. The medium itself is just too boring to consume in isolation.

Good job proving my point. Only way you can stomach watching vtubers is having them in a secondary monitor while multitasking because just watching the stream alone is dead boring. No need to pay attention, maybe a funny moment will happen every one hour or two.

Like zoomers who have to listen to podcasts while gaming. Only way to get any engagement from modern slop.
