I've never actually had hershey's do they really do that? Butyric acid is what gets released when butter or hard cheeses spoil, or in small amounts for normal milk. it's a known product of certain types of emulsification processes for milk but it's normally not very noticeable in products that aren't literally 100% made of milk like cheese and butter. Chocolate bars are made of Cocoa butter, sugar, and cocoa powder. Milk chocolate has powdered milk too, it shouldn't even have time to spoil with now little actual moisture there is in a bar relative to how packed with sugar it is.

This sounds false since all the chocolate I've ever gotten never had a "spoiled milk" taste.
