Hmm, I'm not sure how unlikable my brats are... But as an audience, I feel like a nice trick is to let something besides the brattiness shine through occasionally. Let the reader get used to the character just sassing at people and joking around for a while, and then have them suddenly do something actually cool/smart/depressing/shocking/somber/impressive. Helps the character feel multi-layered, instead of one-note. That's if they have a lot of screen-time, if they don't, it's fine to let them fill a simpler niche.
As for intimacy... That's up to what you're comfortable with, but trying to write outside your comfort zone can be instructive. As with lots of other types of scenes, I think focusing on the character's senses is particularly important.

Deadbeats, I finally watched One Piece Red, mainly because my Mori wanted me to.
The plot didn't make a lot of sense, and side characters were crammed in there to the point of utter absurdity. But Uta character was fun, and although there are lots of plotholes in her character arc, it felt pretty interesting on an emotional level. The visuals were great, and obviously the OST was fantastic. Thinking of how Mori could relate to Uta and how much she must have enjoyed her chuuni scenes enormously increased my enjoyment.
I teared up during the World's Continuation scene because it made me think of Mori's cover... I think I prefer Mori's version.
Overall, I would recommend it to a Deadbeat, and people who enjoy Ado's music.
