Pressure and blockstring are two different things, but goes hand in hand. Blockstrings are usually used to make sure the opponent keeps blocking, thus giving pressure for them to try and escape or counter. Pressure by its own doesn’t necessarily mean you do blockstrings, it can also mean keeping your opponent cornered, “grooming” your opponent into staying defensive, etc.

The reason why you want to play the SNES version is to experience the OG phantasia gameplay. The gameplay mechanic is vastly different from any of phantasia remakes and is a good experience to try out. I remember an official fanservice skit that basically had them describes how the og phantasia battle system is already perfect on it’s own. The remakes mostly adds more skits and bits of story if you want more of those, but the I think the og SNES is where you want to taste the real deal
