Hello ruffians!
Thanks to your encouragement I started with my Nihongo learning journey!
Day 100: Warning! Especially long blogpost for this special day ahead.
I had to do this day justice and give a little more effort, besides just doing anki. Today I've done my anki and listening immersion reps. I've also did some katakana reps, cause I've noticed I started forgetting them, cause of little to no use. For anki I've done 10 new cards and for immersion reps I've watched the first half of Anya collab. I managed to understand some stuff, but I would say still less than 15% in total. Of course, visual clues and game they play (plus all the English words in Japanese) help me a lot to get the gist of things.
Recap of what I did in this first 100 days: learned kana, read "Japanese the Manga Way" grammar guide, learned first 700 words of Core 2.3k deck and started with reading (77 pages of Yotsuba) and listening (JP members clips and streams) immersion. I also started watching Cure Dolly videos, but only did like 3 or 4 and made a long pause, I'll probably start form the beginning again when I decide to watch it.
When I look at it in this way, I'm satisfied with it. Yeah, it's not anything amazing or to write home about, but it's a progress. But the thing that I'm not so proud about is that most of this was actually done in the first, I would say 75 days. During the day 76 I had some health issue. Nothing too serious, but enough for me to end up in hospital for a few days. I didn't drop learning Japanese, I've kept doing anki reps on my phone in hospital till I got home. I was proud of myself for not stopping, but when I got home I continued doing just that: not stopping. What I mean to say is that for the last 20 or so days, after I left hospital, I still haven't continued with my daily immersion reps or anything rather then just doing anki. I'm type of guy that likes to grind something and do something continuously for extended period of time. If I break that continuity or the streak or stop the grind, I'm like: "Damn, the streak is over, how am I going to continue this now?". Why I'm I saying all of this: it's cause not continuing with my Japanese immersion is not the greatest sin I've made.
I have a confession to made: I actually haven't watched FUWAMOCO stream in like a month. With every day and new stream passing, there were more and more stuff I've missed, more and more references I don't know and I wouldn't get, even if I hear them. After the hospital arc I've changed some things and habits in my life, so now I don't even know if I could watch all of their streams. I still love them, I'm still member and will continue to love and support them until they graduate, maybe even after that, and I hope that at some foreseeable future my passion and will to watch the streams and do daily immersion reps, comes back.
FUWAMOCO love!
BAU BAU!
