Amongus is always good stream content. Though the last time she played she was kinda quiet. We will see, past few months should've made her more confident and outspoken during collabs compared to the first amongus stream.

Thank you for the feedback, it will be changed in the next update.

Speaking of which, micro update. I've worked around one of the issues that was causing the game to not progress past the first boss fight with the Giant Ollie.

I have also made a few adjustments to the player's movespeed, hitboxes and character size. These should all make Mumei a bit more limber and controllable so you can pull out those sweet jukes on the Nightmares.

I hope I can figure out the error on the Windows version so we have a Windows version.

On that note, do you find that the BGM freezes between levels? I am wondering if it's merely a problem on my end.

If you want to try your hand at adding something to the final project, you can submit stuff here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeBr2P_A3eMw-EVrevF42S-zIJlB6qHd0V5yUUsyXL63n9f_g/viewform?usp=sf_link

Please document any changes to existing scripts and assets if you do, or even better, create copies that exist just for your level so I don't have to worry about the possibility of fixing stuff.

/who/ties, darlings. Council me.

Should I begin shilling my game in other corners of the interwebs, such as excretable Discord and Reddit and /hlgg/? Or would you call it premature and unwise? It's true that it's not finished and I put up a notice advising people against playing it and all, but I feel this thing might just go completely unnoticed if the analytics and birdapp attention or lack thereof are any indication.

Alright, the last special mention's link is dead, so it's time for an update.

Sadly, I don't have a whole lot of juicy new updates to report, other than the handful of unfortunate souls I've sucked into the vortex of amateur gamedev has begun building BGMs and tileset assets which have been missing for a while now. This means I'll probably have to rebuild a lot of stuff at some point, but it's fine.

Before that is done however, I wanted to put something to consideration with /who/, even though I can never tell how invested or otherwise you all are, as much as that is my own lack of shilling prowess to blame:

Are any of you interested in creating your own, small level, that could be incorporated into a special exploration area that wouldn't really affect the flow of the "main" section of the game? You would need to install Godot and import a truncated version of the game, that I would have to import back into the game once finished. You'd have access to the assets and scripts, such as they are, and while I can't promise constant, up-to-date support I was thinking of working on some kind of webpage describing the basic steps and scripts to get a level up and running, which you would be free to expand upon (just tell me if you add any new asset so I can keep track of who to credit for and whether they'd accept that at all).

I confess this is due to a tinge of guilt that I didn't work as diligently as I should have when I had time. That can't be wiped away, but I can turn it into a gift of the community instead.

Not a lot of version updates, but hopefully that will change greatly by the end of the week: https://vanillapuddingproductions.itch.io/mumeis-birthday-adventure-alpha-edition

There are still longstanding bugs which I haven't had the will to spend time resolving.

Hello hooties, tourists, schizos and assorted fellow deviants. I come bearing updates.

I have created a boss fight that marks the end of the first section of the game, which is unpolished but live, and you can try your luck at reaching the end of the game such as it is. I am likely not going to make more than another, hopefully better section, as time is running out and at some point I will have to rebuild the levels with the new tilesets from the poor soul I've dragged into my madness.

I'm afraid this will end up being an even shorter game than I first thought, and thus I've went the route of "replayability". Read, you will probably die a lot. This was also done because as it is, the game is very lenient towards "berry farming", which is fine as you will still need to pay attention and play well in order to not die. I may consider making an idle animation at some point, but it's down in the bottom of the to-do list.

I've added a staple of games of this genre, a randomly generated hints box in the game over screen. Some advice is useful, some advice is interesting, some advice I just put there to rattle your collective chain and give you a little motivating spite.

For the next days, I think I will bite the bullet and assume this is as good as it gets insofar as assets go, and use things that won't stick out like a sore thumb. Screwing around with assets is probably the thing I like doing the least, and it's been a leading burnout factor on top of my bad sleeping habits and my immense love for the way I procure sustenance. Competing with dog packs for trash can turf is a bitch, lemme tell you. Just kidding, they're actually gay werewolves

Jokes (?) aside. The game will turn to focus on QoL, prettifying and curating/waiting for commissioned assets, and it will probably not be much longer than what it is right now. I could lie and say that this is because I totally expect Mumei to spend a little bit of time playing it on the 4th, but I doubt it would be approved by management by then, considering it is still quite unfinished and there's probably plans for that day which have been traced months in advance. Instead I hope this becomes a decent little time waster for people who like Hololive and platformers in general, and Nanashi Mumei in particular.

I'll still do my level best to make it the best it can become. I am totally not reminding myself.

Game's here: https://vanillapuddingproductions.itch.io/mumeis-birthday-adventure-alpha-edition

Don't press the quit buttons, I forgot this is a web version and they just erm.. crash the game.

Alright, it's been a while hasn't it? Time for an update.

Essentially, the plan for May went the way of the dodo as everyone was busy and I am a silly menhera that needed some grass-touching hard. Fortunately, touching grass was what I've done the most during Moom's detox break, and now I'm back to form.

I've decided that from now on, I'll be posting the game on a "real" development account, publicly accessible in whatever state it might be, on itch.io as there's enough people involved that it can no longer be called a single schizo's ramblings in game format. I'll also be posting funsy stuff for shilling and whatnot in the devlogs and Twitter as inspirations strikes me.

The game, such as it is: https://vanillapuddingproductions.itch.io/mumeis-birthday-adventure-alpha-edition

As I said in the description, there are a LOT of things unfinished and unpolished. You don't have to post things you find that are off-place here, as they're stupidly easy to find, something I'll look into changing soon. Otherwise, have fun with what little is there right now.

I won't go menhera prima donna anymore, there will be a finished game, small and crappy as it must but it will have a beginning and an ending before the 4th of August.

PS: The attack key is shift, not Z as I wrote.

Alright, it's been a while and I promised updates on the oh-so-great birthday game and the thread's been a bit weird, so I guess I'll do another promised update post even though the last time I did that, response was tepid at best.

To put it shortly, I've caught the coof around the time I experienced the fallout of weeks of impaired sleep for the sake of watching streams live. This has been a big wake-up call when it comes to my involvement with Nanashi Mumei and thus I've decided that it's time to roll things back significantly. That means I'm no longer in charge of the project, but fortunately (?) it's not dead yet. The people I've gathered will keep working on it and I will be around to code anything that needs coding; otherwise they have the base of the game, such as it is, done and they can expand and add much-needed graphical assets. To tell the truth, part of my burnout was exactly that; it was heartless to keep spending time building assets that I had very little skill at building and fishing for premades that were all over the place. I also didn't like making blatant placeholder enemies like the ones in the preview.

Current state of affairs: https://streamable.com/3mawgs

I won't send more team advertisement links as I think I've found as much as I can find from /who/ in terms of volunteer effort by now. Unless people really wish to contribute, I won't bother headhunting here anymore. Maybe we'll have a small and fun game done by August the 4th, maybe not. Myself, I've decided I don't want to keep grinding my brain to dust over this when I have a full time job and a physically demanding pursuit that requires me to drive 80KM every other day. I'll just grind it a little bit over the course of the next two months to expiate my guilt like the filthy moral coward I am.
