watched a video about old and abandoned virtual spaces and early MMOs and thought Active Worlds stream might be interesting (and technically retro) exploration stream. it's a desolate and surreal experience seeing a bunch of virtual bullshit from not-so-distant past and thinking people used to hang out and have fun there. thinking about the whole process of creation itself and why does any of it exist: why do people create these things anyways? some are more self-explanatory in their function, like minigame rooms or recreations of real things, but some are baffling and up for anyone's interpretation as the digital footprints fade away and become lost to time.

in 20 years time, that's gonna be VRChat and new generations will be ogling in in wonder at the shit that current zoomers made today
