This just tells me the artist (I don't think it was Senzakimama?) has knowledge of designing characters for 2D animation and NOT mascot/plushie design. There's an overlap there when it comes to what makes a good design, but not thinking how it'll look in 3d is a big mistake. The idea is clever when executed correctly, but it doesn't apply to this situation
