What's fantastic about this place is that we are all in love with an animated avatar and we mostly don't know anything about them so in order to keep our interest we have to create narratives and treat them as they are sport teams, competing for cuteness, competing for numbers, competings for best fanbase and so on and it's great because we are all lonely nerds and for us this is our sport.
