...that was not at all what I meant, I meant the compositions themselves likely changed enough for there to not be enough meaningful overlap between them - or to require a bunch more work on my part than just masking different bits together.
even if GIMP or Photoshop weren't doing it for me, which GIMP just did, it'd be a quick "Align" to fix. I ticked some box in PS ages ago that makes things snap to edges anyways. I can't open PS right now or my browser will crash, lol
trying to overlay 4 images simultaneously isn't exactly the best way to show it, but they're just enough off that it won't be one and done...

this is going to sound EXCEPTIONALLY grug, but have you tried "measuring it out" for how many tokens to assign? ie. what'd it take for something to be unmistakably whoever it is you're making an embed of?
