Ackshually, the Berlin Interpretation requires a 'roguelike' game to have, as high value factors:
-Random environment generation
-Permadeath
-Turn-based
-Grid-based
-Non-modal (All actions should take place in a single mode)
-Multiplicity of solutions to common goals
-Resource management
-Hack'n'slash
-Exploration and Discovery

Dark Souls, as such, only fits five of these factors at best and cannot be considered sufficiently roguelike.
