Everyone's YGO arc kinda ended when Konami updated the game to be even more jewish. They basically tripled the difficulty of clearing the battle pass for the same rewards as before so people who aren't addicted to the game will have a much harder time. The system of feudalist agriculture was inherently more exploitative and time-consuming than the hunter gatherer system that preceded it. Same for the system of industrial wageslavery that replaced feudalism. People work more hours now than they did 50 years ago and they worked more hours 50 years ago than they did 200 years ago. On top of that the work has become more complex and atomized and meaningless to the point you just end up feeling like a drone rather than contributing anything worthwhile to society or your local community like a farmer or hunter would.

Humans progressively trade off their free time for more money/resources as society advances and while this has largely eliminated the risk of outright famines in the west it's resulted in a generation of people who simply work like robots while collecting worthless trinkets and living off junk food. From the first 100,000 years of human history to the late 1960's humans never had this problem because there simply weren't enough resources to extract(farming, hunting, foraging, etc) to be worth spending your entire waking life chasing after. People would kill a single deer or boar or some shit and live off it for a month.

Sure it's worthwhile to learn to cook and I enjoy cooking as a hobby but I don't blame people for not having the energy to do so. Same for the hours you spend filling out surveys, that's literally less than minimum wage in the west and you consider it a proper investment. Maybe for a NEET that's a good investment but for someone who has to pay rent I don't think $40/week is really a worthwhile use of their time necessarily. Of course that's not disparaging your efforts, just saying a lot of people live in the immediate "now" and don't think about their future too much. They put that stuff off every day for the next day until they've been doing it for 30+ years and their life is in shambles due to lack of self-care. It'd be one thing if this was just some sort of mental illness that could be treated or if it were just a lack of education where you can teach children to be more responsible as adults, but my issue with treating it as a matter of agency is that people are lied to and manipulated down this path, sometimes they're just too naive to know any better. It's like a teenager being tricked down a path of drug addiction because it's seen as flashy and cool and destroying their life as a result. Except instead of being seen as degenerate by the general public this lifestyle of being a wagie slave living paycheck to paycheck is encouraged by every single authority figure in your life to make you suffer just like they do. It's admirable to escape that system but it often requires someone else's guidance to know how to even begin to do so.
