Even if in the end the vtuber tag is removed, which is the bitch route that Twitch might end up taking, the gatekeeping will have consequences that will affect the scene for years to come, inside the culture and outside of it.

So here's the thing: menhera chuubas are objectively more entertaining.
All human storytelling is about falling in love with characters and then worrying for them, the more worried you are for them, the better the storytelling is. If there is no conflict, there is no plot. The conflict is usually brought via external factors, hence the need for a rival or a villain who opposes the main character, but the conflict can come also from within, with the antagonist being the main character's negative emotions, diseases, etc. This is why also sickly girls make top vtubers.

The problem is that while modern storytelling only last for a couple of hours, with a menhera chuuba you will be forced to worry about that character for days and months to come. Worst of all, a happy ending is almost certainly impossible. This makes streaming as a form of narrative a tremendously soul-crushing experience if taken personally.
The secret to being able to watch menhera chuubas is to convince yourself they aren't real people. They are, but if you don't separate from them you will get burned. Always keep some level of detachment so it doesn't ruin your entertainment, because ultimately if you are not having fun it is not worth it.
