'I saw them again last night,' You begin, trembling hand carrying the pen across the carefully lined pages of your journal. 'The girl with green hair. She was on the opposite side of a busy street, standing there in the middle of the rain. It was heavy enough to mist up white when it hit the ground - I could barely see her. I couldn't make out any features - I never can - but it felt like she was watching me. Calling out, but without a voice. This--'

Dropping the pen to the table, the sharp pain within your temples flares once more, drawing with it a hiss of pain as your clenches. You *know* this person. You've seen them a dozen times. But at the same time, there's absolutely no recollection of them present. Just a smouldering, gaping hole in your memory that your mind keeps pointing you towards when you try to find answers from within. She - if it even is a she, 'she' just feels *right* - has been there for months now, within the derelict corners of your dreams. Always blurry, out of focus and far away. Like a specter or some sort of revenant. Something that refuses to be forgotten. To stay dead.

The phrase turns sour in your mouth as it crosses your mind. 'Dead'. Gone. No more. Nonexistent. So many terms cross by with a heightening pace, the pain within your skull beginning to intensify. Eyes beginning to water, you take a deep breath and try to focus on something else - anything else - other than the mystery woman skulking throughout your dreams.

'Gone yet desperate to not be forgotten' is the very last thing to cross your mind before the thoughts finally fade for the time being.
