The emblem’s made by four four-pointed stars intersecting to form the fifth (which also is the one with the same ratio as V&U’s four-pointed star) so I imagine it was first adopted by a union of four polities. It’s also designed with high contrast in mind since the very different light between Sestag’s natural light and the colonies’ lighting makes the people realize symbols need to be designed in a such a way that it’s distinct no matter the lighting they’re in. The 4 stars are meant to be in dark shade regardless of lighting while the fifth is meant to be in light shade so it’s always visible no matter the lighting condition. I think the emblem might actually look more colorful when transplanted from their natural environment, like if you shine a Sun-like light on one that’s meant for Sestag’s lighting condition, the dark shade would look blue while the light shade would look red as a red dwarf star almost gives off no blue light. The reverse might be true if space /vnug/ ever comes to colonize a world around a high-mass star that gives off mostly blue light

For culture it’s best to start with what you want to write the most since your interest can help you set a good foundation. Something important to remember is that culture is heavily dependent on your environment and how you interact with it, so aspects of your culture should be tied to your country’s climates and biomes! Different aspects of culture also interact with each other so your interested aspects (and religion) can be a good jumping point to flesh out the rest

Doing reps for this thread teaches me a lot of stuff! I’ve really grown to like /vnug/’s environment in part because of how hostile it could be and how people manage to adapt to it
As for maple I think maple syrup would still be a thing in /vnug/ but it might be more expensive and/or less sweet with a richer aroma. A related product would be birch sap which has similar properties (wiki describes it as “mineral-rich, caramel-like taste with a hint of spiciness that is not unlike molasses, balsamic condiment, or some types of onions”) but can also be fermented as a slightly alcoholic drink. Since /hag/’s warmer I think you should be able to produce more common maple syrup without issues! Meanwhile /vnug/ maple and birch syrup would be something like a special ingredient that sacrifices accessibility for a unique flavor

Food import in general and grain import in particular are highly appreciated! I think I marked that down a while ago. In exchange we’re happy to export our winterized bees and our other cold place stuff to /hag/! Being basically confined indoors for the better half of the year also probably contributes to the well-developed handicraft culture and industry of /vnug/ (itself based on Liora and Kokone’s gunpla experience which will spread to Lofi soon)
