So here's a thought.
One day in the far future when almost all of these things have been thrown into a landfill or burned for energy reclamation.
There's going to be one of these things on a shelf in some old womans house. Her kids and grandkids will have no fucking clue why she's got this by now discoloured piece of plastic crap and so much other shit of this character that was forgotten long before any of them were born.
They got no clue why but it means something to granny so they leave it be. She looks at it every now and chuckles to herself saying some ancient joke that means nothing to anyone under sixty.
After her husband dies and her decline becomes more serious she spends more time looking at this figurine and all the other memorabilia. As her mind declines and she loses her sense of time her family find her in front of a computer that's not been compatible with the power grid for a few decades now, chattering away to a nonexistent audience.

Then grandma will die.
The kids inherit the family home and go through all her old stuff. Throwing out all this ancient ratty anime merchandise because it means nothing to them. The last of these figurines joins the rest in the dustbin of history.
