The other anon brought it up, but no dude, there was a ton of complaining about the bait and switch Kojima pulled with Raiden. The other major complaint was the runtime of cutscenes and the long ass codecs. If you want proof, besides finding old articles, just look at MGS3. Cutscenes and codecs are kept much shorter, Snake came back and there is a Raiden look alike who was made gay. All that is Kojima reacting to criticism.

MGS2 is only looked upon favorably now because of what I said before. Everyone is like "OMG KOJIMA PREDICTED THE CURRENT STATE OF THE INTERNET" and ignore all the shit that comes with the game.
