The big problem really was that the rest of western vtubing turned into streaming with avatars. The Japs build a culture around this shit as it was expanding. EN just took the avatars and decided that it's a way to market their streams. And from there it just started to slowly fold into regular streamer culture.

What irritates me more is that the fuckup is classic suits being out of touch, but Ai-chan gets the blame. Upd8 burning down wasn't punishment enough. They should all have been blacklisted and publicly humiliated. At least she now gets to do the things she wants to do, collab with the people she wants to, and is generally more active than she's been before. Never mind the 3mil. I remember when all she wanted was to appear in a commercial, and by now she's surpassed that goal so many times over.
