She applied on a whim, but took the audition seriously, like she does with everything. Then was nervous because she probably wondered "holy shit, what if they chose me" and she'll have do this job she signed up for but didn't plan on doing. I'd be fucking nervous too.

It super cute and hilarious how she said that in audition and pre-debut she was very professional and on point, but now she's all over the place. So it's like, they hired one thing, but got another thing actually working.
But "gap" was in the teaser character introduction video, so I think they always knew.
