Contrary to the current state of the board, /vt/ and its predecessor /jp/ wasnt always as hostile to males, they just ignored them for the most part. Nijien's Luxiem branch got a few bait threads, but most anons chalked it up to being niji and didn't really care. The announcement of a male vtuber branch for Hololive english changed everything, mostly because anons never once thought they'd come to EN.The meltdown was huge, and Tempus's announcement was basically the 2016 /pol/ of /vt/, and Ame being quick to interact,collab, and show support during all this set off the her mostly parasocial fanbase /here/.

TL;DR Ame was the first vtuber alot of EN tourist unicorns followed, and how she handled tempus turned almost all of them away.

To add to this, Before youtube she was a well known draw/vocaroo fag on /a/, so she carried alot of resentment from oldfags for years. They found out she got into hololive and used this as an excuse to start a hate campaign.
