I imagined a scenario where she, ever the perfectionist, had spent a long time smithing an intricate piece of metal artwork. Her legs were aching from standing up all day, and she barely had any feeling in her arms and hands from holding heavy metals and the appliances with which to manipulate them. You could see the wrinkles on her hands resulting from having them too close to her furnace at points. So I sat her down and wiped her sweaty face and arms with a moist towlette. Afterwards I took some lotion and began gently massaging her hands. It was very comforting to hear her relaxed breathing and soft, almost silent giggling because it really did feel like I was helping her get some feeling back in them.

I looked up at her and couldn't look anywhere else afterwards - her brilliant yellow hair and her striking red eyes were just as magnetic as the lodestones she sometimes used as a metal source. I don't exactly remember how much time we spent like that. Just holding hands, now smooth and lightly scented with lavender, tightly together. Just staring into each other's eyes with smiles on our faces that looked like she had polished them herself. I guess it was long enough though because she looked as good as new when she resumed her work only a few hours later. I do worry about her overworking herself.
