They were cratering every since the main Usaken arc finished (with a little bounce back for Usaken Summer Festival) because without a full blow commitment to Minecraft from the JP side Moona was getting a little stuck and spinning wheels.

By refocusing her content on her ID branch mates and taking full advantage of her karaoke prowess she managed to break the fall and even incline back a little.
Making the future of the branch dependent on their ties to JP (and on their ability to speak english) was a losing proposition from the start and ripping the bandaid and reinventing themselves was sorely needed.

I didn't see this and can only say that in hindsight, but it was the correct decision
