Clove is a warm spice in the vein of like cinnamon. It's usually used whole in stuff like pickling, holiday ham, and some soups/stews (gotta keep it in a sachet though with other aromatics so it doesn't get lost and you bite into it later), and when ground in stuff like curry powders, chinese five spice, and pumpkin spice, then subsequently everything you'd put those into. I also sneak a very tiny bit into some meat marinades, like for my pulled pork. You gotta be really careful with it though, it is very powerful and even 1 clove goes a LONG way.

if the anon I talked to about Cuisineer is here, I've played more and I downgrade my recommendation to "it's okay," since the cooking stuff has stayed pretty thoughtless to a point of getting dull, and the game overall doesn't have a very good sense of progression

Yeah, cooking really isn't as hard as some people seem to think it is. I mean to be fair the perception is kind of between 500 step, all day process shit that stay at home grandmas watching Julia Child made, and beedo youtubers who spend half a video talking about completely irrelevant food science, so I can kind of understand why people are mislead into thinking it's a super difficult skill to learn and master, but there's also a lot of learned helplessness around it. It's just a matter of some very basic knowledge, following a recipe, tasting and adjusting flavors as needed, and paying enough attention so you don't end up burning pancakes and water.

carnie fact #665: the carnie diet mostly consists of attic insulation and chili, which is a fairly economical dish that is quite healthy, easy to make in bulk for the whole week, and most importantly of all, delicious
