What the fuck was the Amegeddon?

I know this is bringing up ancient history at this point, but this was during a time when there was a HoloLive general at /jp/, or maybe it was during the beginning of /vt/ I can’t recall. But why exactly did the Gosling posters stop posting? I remember there was a mass exodus of them, and I rarely see any Gosling posts. I know that a majority of them had Amelia as their oshi. Was it really the Homostars controversy that brought it to a stop? I ask this cause I actually miss the Gosling posting.
