Nah, the retirement of someone I'm a big fan of like Ange or Nui would wreck me for a good bit, but I don't think I'd just quit vtubers altogether. I think the only external thing that could cause that would be something happening to the company, like if Enikara one day goes "well things are fucked so we have to close operations" and the entire vtuber program gets terminated with a mass retirement of the whole lineup. Something of that scale would probably be too traumatizing for me to ever want to have anything to do with the scene again.
