Battle princess Shiori.

>You and the princess Shiori are returning home in a carriage from the lengthy royal assembly
>Various princes and princesses had to gather, Shiori was no exception
>You are resting, the princess opposite of you, your armor still donned, your helmet in your hands, sword laying in the carriage next to you
>You're ready for anything and anyone, you've sworn your life to the princess
>Suddenly the carriage comes to a stop
>The coachman yells out "Bandits!
>You quickly put on your helmet and grab your sword
>"Anon!" The princess exclaims, in a hurried voice
>You look at her and under your helmet you smile, saying: "I'll be back."
>You quickly bolt out of the carriage, you see a bandit and instantly cleave him with your great sword, one that was personally gifted to you by the princess
>The bandits are in shock, they didn't expect her escort to be one of the finest knights in the kingdom.
>They muster their courage and charge at you, however to you they're nothing but flies to be swatted
>Left, right, even vertically, you're slicing through them like flies. The daily practice in the training hall is tougher than this
>But arrogance is your downfall, as one particular bandit is hiding, waiting for you to drop your guard
>Soon there are none left standing, your armor is coated in their blood
>You sigh and think to yourself: "My page will be very busy after this. Poor man."
>You knock on the carriage door and say: "Princess, it's all clear."
>She steps out and looks around, she sees corpses of bandits strewn over the roads and she holds her hand to her mouth
>You take off your helmet, thinking the battle is over
>Shiori pauses for a little, then looks at you and releases a gentle smile
>You smile and say to her: "We should get going."
>Before you get back on the carriage, she stops you and reaches for you, planting a kiss on your lips
>In your horror, in the corner of your eye, you notice a bandit running at the two of you, an axe in hand
>You quickly turn her mid-kiss, and push her into the cabin
>The axe lands in neck, but not before your sword pierces the bandit's heart
>Instantly, you collapse, and in Shiori's shock and horror she holds your head and calls to you
>"Anon! Anon no!"
>The coachman lifts your quickly dying body onto the carriage
>The rest of the carriage ride is spent
>Your head is on Shiori's lap
>She's tearfully telling you stories of her childhood
>Ones she promised to one day tell you when the two of you were alone
>You can feel your eyes getting heavy, the sound of her voice is slowly drifting further
>The tears falling on your cheeks can no longer be felt
>And then, complete silence
>You have defended your princess with courage and honour.
>You have fulfilled your duty and will one day be reuinited with your princess in the afterlife
>But will you recognize her as the same young lady you swore your life to? Or will she have grown old and wise by the time you two are reunited?
