Say you are looking to buy into a position and hold it for the long term. As soon as you buy in you get bogged. You still want the coin but you are now in the red. This is where dip buying saves you.

Say you bought 1 coin at $10/coin. Then the coins crashes to $4. Instead of selling the coin at a $5 lose you instead buy 2 coins at $4/coin.

Now when counting coins or stock you don't count the price of the individual you count the price of the whole so instead of 1 coin you bought at $10 and 2 coins bought at $4 you have 3 coins that you bought for $6/coin.

Say it holds at $4 and you buy another 2 coins. You now own 5 coins you bought for $5.2/coin. Now say the coin moons back to $10 and you sell your original 1 coin you bought for $10. Instead of breaking even you will actually profit $4.8.

This is why boomers go on and on about Dip Buying and Dollar Cost Averaging.
