It probably would if left untreated and open. If it does, I'll have a slow, painful death from my festering wound. I'll be delusional in my final days, as infection deaths usually go - as Sonny visits me on my deathbed to admire his handiwork, I might think in my final hours that he loves me after all. Or maybe I wouldn't recognise him, the memory of the event that will kill me long since lost and buried under layers of sickness and crushing exhaustion, and he'll smile, safe in the knowledge I'm unable to tell anyone what happened.
That being said, I'd much prefer to stay alive, remembering. I'll feel sick every time I see that ugly, deep scar, feel the rubbery-soft tissue with my fingertips while I look at myself in the mirror. Nothing about me will be sacred then - violated right down to my organs, not an inch of me left safe and untouched. He'll have taken what's left of me and ruined it irreversibly.
