>”Hmmmmm.”
>Kronii stared pensively at the… sandwich if you could so charitably call it, in front of her, thinking back on what lead her up until this point.
>It was around lunch time and she was feeling peckish, so she had been searching inside her fridge for something to munch on.
> “Let’s see… whole bunch of leafy green vegetables… that’s a no. Half bottle of kimchi… nearly empty bottle of barley tea… I should really make a better habit of getting groceries more regularly; that’s another thing to add to the ‘self-improvement’ list.”
>Despite having been living alone for a few weeks now, she was still unaccustomed to using her kitchen mostly because it was blocked off for renovations, so her diet at that point was largely restricted to things she could toss in the microwave and delivery. Today however, she realized she had tapped out all of her microwaveable meals, and was trying to save money for once by not dipping into delivery this time, so she was hoping to find at least sustain her until she could go grocery shopping later.
>”Hmm? What’s this?”
>She pulled out a plastic bag from the back of the fridge with bright white and yellow letters on it.
>”Oh yeah, I did have Subway not too long ago, didn’t I? This should probably be okay.”
>She pulled out the contents of the bag- the wrapped up remains of a sandwich she had previously purchased but couldn’t recall exactly when. She vaguely recalled that she got a footlong tuna salad sandwich the last time she was there, thinking she’d have the other half of the sandwich the day after, though that idea apparently didn’t pan as expect. She began to unfold the paper wrapper around the sandwich.
>“Oh…oh this isn’t good.”
>The sandwich had been in the fridge a good deal longer than she realized; the multigrain bread was very tough to the touch and she could see patches of green fuzz on the top and underside of the bread. The insides didn’t fare much better; the lettuce looked fairly dried out, and the all-important tuna component had streaks of “color” that she had never seen in her sandwiches before, but only on the outer edges, the inner part of the sandwich looking safe… enough.
>”Hmmmmmmm…”
>Kronii was indeed fairly hungry, the grumbling of her stomach serving as a reminder, but was it worth getting potential food-poisoning over?
>”Maybe I can make this work somehow...”
>Grabbing a knife, she tried making several precision cuts to the sandwich to remove the moldy parts; while most people would just throw it all away at the first sight of mold, Kronii prided herself on being “built different”, so surely she’d be fine if she removed all the bad parts from the sandwich. By the time she was done, she had removed about 40% of the sandwich bread and about 30% of the tuna, so while the sandwich was smaller now, it was probably safer to eat now.
>”Hmmmmmm...”
>After another half a minute of her squinting at the sandwich and making Minecraft villager sounds, she took a picture of her “lunch” and posted it to her channel’s community board. Surely the Kronies would be able to tell if she’d be fine partaking in the sandwich that looked like it had undergone liposuction.
>”Hungry and didn’t have much in my fridge to eat. I found this tuna salad sandwich I got a few days ago and it was covered in mold, but I tried my best to remove all of it: think it’s safe to eat?” she wrote in her post. The replies came in just as quick.
>”Kronii, I know you can’t really cook but this is taking it too far as a joke. Toss that away!”
>”If you cut off all the bad parts, it should fine I guess. IDK”
>”You should take better care of yourself. I worry for your health, and if given the chance I’d love to be your personal chef. By the way did you get my letter and (1/5)”
>The resulting comments overwhelming told her to toss the sandwich, one going so far to imply she must have hated herself along with the Kronies if she was seriously considering consuming it. She took one last glance at the sandwich, and used one of her fingers to scoop up a portion of the tuna salad, briefly bringing it up to her nose.
> “Oh god…blech…yeah, yeah that’s a no.”
>The pungent smell the tuna was giving off now sealed the deal for her. She wiped the salad back onto the sandwich, deposited the remains into the closest trash bin, and then proceeded to wash her hands to get the tuna funk out of them.
>”Welp, no helping it I suppose.”
>She quickly brought up the Subway app on her phone, ordered another tuna sandwich, and promptly went back to work. Her hunger would just have to wait a bit longer; eating sussy fish was never worth the risk.
