Maybe i'm a crazy overthinker too because I agree. I'm not even saying that idol culture in vtubing should be wholly gone, just that it shouldn't be the central measuring stick that everyone in the industry should be compared to. I'm really grateful that vox at least has a solid character and story reason to be a streamer in lore. There are way too many "My name is midnight nightmare, I'm a hyper powerful and sexy god, but I stopped doing all these cool things to be a streamer! You want to hear more about the cool shit I used to do? Too bad, it'll never get followed up on!" It's funny the first few times, but now that character trait is copypasted fucking everywhere.

I know it's maybe too much to ask the people that signed up to be corpo streamers to also write a storyline and act sometimes, but it doesn't even have to be complicated or dense. I think lore being a debut "hook" that rarely ever gets followed up on and is often treated like an optional cringe annoyance is cheating everyone out of some really cool possibilities for the medium. Hopefully it'll get better overtime, kizuna ai wasn't even 10 years ago.
