/vt/ - Virtual Youtubers

I'm not a Nyan gosling but I think I can relate to them in a way.
I think the worst part of the whole gosling thing and the fabled "parasocial" buzzword is when it happens without you even realizing. Back when I started actively watching vtubers, I had always found it funny how people got so badly attached to streamers since I had never myself ran into such a thing despite watching the same couple streamers for 5+ years. But then you just start watching some vtuber for a couple months and for some reason something starts boiling inside you, despite you yourself believing you're not that attached to them. It's horrible when you realize what happened to you and it's even worse that you can't just flip a switch on your brain telling it to stop.
It's not what you wanted, and the sinking feeling you get when you're confronted with reality is even worse. Falling in love with someone who has no chance of knowing you or acknowledging you ever despite you being completely aware and conscious of this and knowing the concept of parasociality.
I honestly wish this type of thing didn't exist. Is there some kind of psychological explanation to this? Like, obviously there's inherently the whole "you don't choose who you fall in love with" deal but, once again, that doesn't really apply to people that you are FULLY aware have no chance whatsoever of being with you. People generally don't fall in love with TV presenters, for example.
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text and apparent schizo type post. Just felt like typing this up considering the circumstances, I don't even know if Nyan and Aethelstan are together but I still relate to how some anons here seem to be feeling, even taking into account the fact that some of them are just shipfagging for the sake of derailing the thread.
