Because unicorns are the neccesary evil. The reason vtubing, livestreaming, cgdct still has legs on the face of earth is because of preserverance of purity. They do not want to admit the unicorns were right, by doing so, admits the fault of the concept in livestreaming itself (or webseries/lets plays).
Parasocialism pays big bucks sure, and unicorns have zero complaints to those who seek such content. However unicorns seek higher level of tranquiliy where a homogenous world without the opposite sex interfering in social setting of only girls (or men). A foolproof, tried and true content assesment system that has worked ever since internet video website concept was conceptualized.

The livestreaming industry is unironically slowly dying, their fleshtubers for example, like "Apex.exe" channels or Apex professional players involving the opposite sex with "playing Apex with my GF" or "This girl asked me to play ranked with her" shit, are simply unejoyable to watch where everyone are acting condescending and flirty to a point they detract from the usual content. The modern unicorn has stopped giving a shit with PL, they only care what happens on stream.
People flock to vtubing because of this specific reason yet everyone points their blame on the horned ones.
The unicorns are the sole reason this board even exists. From the shadows these dumb unicorns form a collective opinion and silently vote with their spending, retweets, likes and upvotes (which are slowly being erased by social media operators erasing or downright hiding these quanitfiable opinions). CC, vtubers themselves, the audience, social media can make fun of them, but it does not matter. They will persist and accepted their role as the prophets of ugly truth everybody hate to listen to.
