Yes, exactly! I am doing a very poor job getting my thoughts in order lately but this is the exact intent! The reason the highest ranking clergymen never leave Akuma Castle isn't only because they're loathe to leave their "paradise" at their Lord's side, as they claim. In truth they are completely incapable of controlling their transformations once they've accumulated such high concentrations of chuubanite in their bodies, truly embodying the "amorphous ever-shifting mass" that Vox tends to describe Kindred as. The number of clergymen who do not survive their promotion ceremonies skyrockets as you get closer to the top of the ladder, but it's simply handwaved away by the church as the supplicant's devotion not being true enough. I really need to come up with proper names for the ranks in the church at some point (as well as a name for the church...) but I imagine part of what decides the pope-equivalent is actually the ability to properly control the absolutely stupid amounts of chuubanite they have in them by that point. If that one /meat/anon's proposal for catalognauts ultimately goes through, I will probably make the head of the church one.

On the subject of naming the church I was thinking I might just outright call them the Holy Order. The simple, straightforward names of Kindred religious organizations (including their Kingdom) are a consequence of their fanaticism – they feel no need to attach specific identifiers when they feel that worshipping Vox is simply the natural order of the world.
