for me personally its a mix of the last two points. i thought for a while that i was just too schizophrenic for social media but modern internet really is both bland and overwhelming at the same time. this is so much better. probably also why im hooked to 4chan despite not liking how edgy it can get. i even learned mIRC a year back and enjoyed that significantly more than discord
