Ken Penders was the writer and editor for the Sonic the Hedgehog comics during the 90s and early 2000s. He found out he had the authority to own the IP of any original characters he created, so he made a bunch of OCs, including a spin-off series of Knuckles extended family, then when SEGA introduced their own characters related to Knuckles he sued them. The lawsuit lasted almost a decade and was super messy and now he's blacklisted from the comic and video game industry and just runs the convention circuit to scrape by.
