This shit bothers me, I don't know why.
It's probably an idol culture thing that maybe doesn't translate to someone that grew up away from it, but it seems that whatever you (as an individual) say/post in this kinda environment, if you're vain enough to think you have something worth saying, is gonna get lost in the gigantic deluge of comments from other narcissistic idiots. It's the same with youtube chat- the best you can hope for is that your favourite holo will read a superchat, which costs money to submit and it's also a crapshoot as to whether she reads it (and you get your dopamine hit) or straight up ignores it because you're a faceless paypig and not worth acknowledging.

This is probably a "me" problem, in that I just don't "get" it, but the parasocial relationship viewers have with vtubers feel very diminishing and parasitic for the viewer and streamer respectively. It's like, I know I'm a nobody, and that's fine I don't need to be somebody, but seeing a stream of YouTube chat comments fly by such that each one appears for 1/5th of a second in a 2 hour stream- I dunno, it feels like I'm getting absorbed into an amorphous mass of faceless flesh and it kinda makes me sick.
It feels like the bigger a streamer gets, the less engaged one can be with their work. Do you guys know what I mean?

Nah, it's one of those typical modern Nintendo interruption mechanics that harangues casuals for playing too long.
I try to put in at least 30 minutes on the active timer (~200+ calories) per session.
