From what I can tell it's very similar to why Kobo exploded, she actively appealing to the SEA/EA audience via specific references to their language/music/culture/jokes/etc. This leads her to get clipped by clippers from there and a giant snowball effect ensues. It's actually a very common complaint among SEA that very few if any chuubas really appeal to them despite them composing a large portion of the vtuber audience, and Kobo was one of the first to really do so.

The drawback to this is of course, SEA currency is practically worthless, so the supas/memberships/monetized elements of vtubing take a hit (as an example Kobo only makes 5k a month from supas).

But Oceane gets around that. She has talents that are naturally predisposed to the two biggest megabuffs for a western vtuber (great singer for karaoke, audio engineer for fanservice ASMR) and she is more than willing to use them. Not only that, she is fully willing to foster the parasocial relationship between her and her viewers. To bring up Kobo again, she doesn't do karaoke nearly as often as Oceane, she pretty much never does ASMR, and she actively disparages the parasocial aspect of vtubing (constant male collabs, makes fun of gachis and her viewers who never had a gf before, stuff like that).

She mixes these two strategies seamlessly in a way I haven't really seen a vtuber do (for example, she does unarchived karaoke fairly often where she will sing the songs westerners and weebs love, but also be sure to include indo/tagalog/other SEA country songs as well) and the end result is she gets the sub explosion from appealing to SEA like Kobo, but also the big money from the westerners with megabuff content and building the parasocial relationships. It's unironically brilliant. If she had the Hololive initial sub/debut buff I could easily see her surpassing everyone in subs besides Gura and maybe Mori.

As someone who's actually married, this stream is fucking garbage. Totally unrealistic. 0/10, it's nothing like the real wife experience.
