I'm having a fucking moment right now so please beat with me, no drawfren I have has been able to talk to me about this sperg shit because looking back the only times I've been able to draw good lineart, maybe 2-3 drawings over the span of a year, was when I
a. Spammed a fuck ton of lines during sketching to create volume and fine detail, later lining over on a new layer by choosing which lines to follow
b. Started sketching and slowly turned it into lineart by cleaning it up for hours.
In other words: detailed pencil sketching is the stage at which I can tell if something will be good or not.
The rest? Paintings. Slowly carving out shapes out of clouds of color, like EM fields that I bent to my will; like carving marble.
And so far my only thought so as to why this is: "I can't feel the volume of things with few lines". Then because of that the lines don't have good weight, they don't ever land right and it looks lackluster.
I'm fucking obsessed with drawing but even /ic/ fags say "drawmore". Well I fucking do and I'm close to making some IRL mistakes because of this shit on my mind and how I perceive my own drawings.
