If a VPN is fixing it and it's just timing you out and not giving you ERR_CONN_REFUSED or something, I do think it might be a DNS issue. So my earlier suggestion, or this Anon's >>24843009 will likely fix it. If you're not comfortable fiddling with DNS settings, Cloudflare even has a Windows client that will just route encrypted DNS through 1.1.1.1 https://developers.cloudflare.com/warp-client/get-started/windows/ - you don't have to use their "WARP" VPN if you don't want to. But honestly, changing DNS settings on Windows isn't too hard. https://byte.wtf/b3hl6d1p.mp4 and either solution beats fiddling with a browser based VPN extension.
