Yes, and efforts to prevent cross-contamination must also be taken very seriously. It was mentioned that the mushroom can only spread orally so of course there's no problem simply grabbing the mushrooms, but touch anything before washing your hands and now there are dormant spores everywhere. Touch something that's been contaminated then touch something you're going to eat and oops, infected! Fungi spores can survive up to an entire year even with unfavorable conditions, so any breach of containment or improper handling would quickly become a ticking time bomb -- a pandemic just waiting to happen, especially since a lot of /meat/'s medicine relies on their chuubanite, which the mushrooms are immune to. You're becoming a whole lot of cannibal scientists, is what you are.
